Randy Lanier was formerly well known as a race car driver with Ferrari and Porsche, winning the 1984 International Motorsports Grand Touring Phototype Championship as a privateer team. He also holds the title of the 1986 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the year. Randy’s success in motorsports was overshadowed in 1987 when he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison as the principal administrator of an organization, that imported marijuana.
Randy served three decades in maximum security prisons. While serving time, he became a yoga instructor, mentor, and a suicide companion. Since his release in 2014 Randy has been working as a behavioral health technician within the substance treatment industry, teaching meditation, yoga, and tai chi to many Afghanistan Veterans. He also has a podcast called “Randy Lanier Smoked”, he is a Brand Ambassador for two public traded companies, a high-performance driving instructor, Oaksterdam student, and currently has a Netflix Documentary on the series Bad Sport called “Need for Weed”. He’s currently working and negotiating a full featured film.
Randy is most rewarded with his job as the Vice President of a 501c3 Nonprofit organization called Freedom Grow. Freedomgrow.org supports cannabis prisoners and their families with a multitude of programs, such as the Wish Program that grants wishes to cannabis prisoners, such as magazines subscriptions, books, birthday wishes, and holiday wishes. Freedom Grow also sends commissary funds to nonviolent cannabis prisoners through donations. Freedomgrow.org is an all-volunteer organization.
Larry Walker is Interim Director of the National Center for Cannabis Research and Education, and Director Emeritus of the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) at the University of Mississippi. He has been a member of the faculty of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy for 41 years. He did his undergraduate pharmacy training at Mercer University (1975), and his doctorate in Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Following postdoctoral stints in pharmacology and physiology at the Bosch Institute for Clinical Pharmacology in Stuttgart, Germany, and at Dartmouth Medical School, he joined the faculty of the School of Pharmacy at Ole Miss in 1981. He has worked for much of his career on natural products drug discovery, pharmacology, toxicology and drug metabolism, including cannabis and cannabinoids research. Dr. Walker is a co-author of more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals in pharmacology, toxicology, and natural products discovery and development. He has been an active member of the American Society of Pharmacognosy, American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, American Society of Microbiology, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Biomolecular Screening. He received the University’s second Distinguished Research and Creative Achievement Award in 2009, and the School of Pharmacy’s Researcher of the Year Award in 2003.

As the Founder of the Mississippi Cannabis Patients Alliance (MCPA) Angie’s passion for her role as a medical cannabis patient advocate emerged while witnessing first-hand the life-changing benefits of medical cannabis as her son, Austin, began battling severe Lyme Disease at the age of 17. As his Lyme Disease became chronic, he suffered debilitating seizures, severe joint pain, nausea, and vomiting along with several other health issues. After a long journey of over 20 doctors and 17 prescription medications without relief, Austin made the decision at the age of 19 to move to a state with a legal and regulated medical marijuana program. Austin was able to eventually stop taking all 17 prescriptions. Today, he lives a healthy and happy life. Angie has devoted her life to sharing Austin’s story throughout the state and assuring patients in Mississippi have the medical freedom to improve their quality of life through the safe and well-regulated use of medical cannabis.
As a 3rd Generation MD, Dr. Vanderveer’s fascination with health and healing began early. He joined his Dad on Neurosurgery Rounds, calls to the ER and long cases in the OR. Playing college football for the NC State Wolfpack, he was no stranger to injuries and pain. He earned an MS in Neurobiology, attended med school at UNC Chapel Hill and internship at East Carolina.
